Knee Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery where a tiny camera (arthroscope) is used to see the inner parts of the knee to assess the ligaments, bone, and cartilage. Small incisions are made on the joints through which the camera and small surgical tools are inserted to perform the surgery. All aspects of knee conditions are successfully treated through knee arthroscopy.
This procedure is performed under epidural anesthesia. Tiny incisions are made on the joints and a sterile solution is filled into the joints. The solution is filled to wash off the unnecessary materials from the joint and it also gives a picture point image of the joints. The menisci (a thin fibrous cartilage between the surfaces of the knee joints) and ligaments are assessed and corrected on the basis of necessity. The damaged cartilage is removed and the wound is closed with a single stitch. It is actually performed as a day care procedure.
